Summer Science Institute (6th -12th)

Careers in Science – June 9-13

Students will explore the anatomy and physiology of plants, using them as models to understand the molecular and classical genetics behind agriculture.  Experiments will involve the chemistry and physics of soil and of plant and animal products.

Format

Experiment and team-based learning is grouped by grade level (Group 1: 6th – 8th graders, Group 2: 9th-12th graders). Each group will have a PBA college student as a Counselor.  Laboratory experiments are led by PBA professors twice daily.

Daily schedule:

8:30-9:00am: check-in

9:00-9:50am: Lecture/instructional time led by PBA faculty

10:00-12:00pm session 1 – lab experiment

12:00-12:50pm: lunch

1:00-3:00pm: session 2 – lab experiment

3:00-3:30pm: dismissal

 

  • It is anticipated that the total number of campers will be capped at 48 students.
  • Camp will run from 8:30am to 3:00pm – cost: $400.00/student.
  • Lunch in the cafeteria is included.
